| Hi
everyone. I'm glad you've checked out my
website. Let me tell you a little bit about myself in an interview form:
How would you describe your music? Classic rock that inspires and refreshes your spirit. Well crafted riffs and rhythms of strength. Progressive instrumental guitar driven music with melodic passion- with some vocal melody. How long have you been playing the guitar? I have been playing guitar for over 32 years. I prefer the electric guitar over the acoustic guitar. I find my fingers like the electric guitar better as well. I like to name my guitars. I play a Fender fat stratocaster made in America I call "Lion" and a Fender fat stratocaster made in Mexico I call "Eagle". I play an Ibanez bass guitar I call "Indigo Violet" and an Yamaha acoustic guitar call "Lamb". I also play an older guitar that I named "Rhino"--it's a telecaster copy. I find the more I play guitar the more I want to know. I've just scratched the surface. What equipment do you use? I am presently using a Marshall AVT 20 with a Line 6 FLOOR POD PLUS for effects. Also a Flextone III Plus amplifier with a Line 6 FBV Shortboard. I play Fender Fat HSS Stratocaster guitars - Mexican and American. Do you read music? No. I started out reading music note for note, but quickly turned to learning and playing by ear. I started writing songs as soon as I knew a few chords on the guitar. My brother Dennis and I would jam for hours on riffs that we would make up spontaneously. I use Cakewalk 9 Pro Audio recording software for my recordings. Who has inspired your playing? I grew up listening to a lot of musicians. I enjoyed the rhythms of Rush, Yes, The Who, Deep Purple, and Santana. I enjoy also the melodic writings of Kerry Livgren and Neil Morse. The guitar work of Alex Lifeson, Joe Satriani, Ritchie Blackmore and Steve Vai are always inspiring as well. What styles of music do you like? I like rock music. I do like some country music because of the clean tone and well crafted songs. I wish I could play some jazz. But basically I'm a rock guy and progressive music guy. I don't really like "rap" music. It seems to lack on the melodic part of music that I enjoy, but I do like heavy beats. I've been inspired by blues, rock, and gospel musicians. I also enjoy being inspired by nature and the one who created all that we enjoy. Do you play any other instruments? I do play a little with the keyboards and bass guitar and would love to be a really good drummer. What bands have you been in? Years ago I formed a band with my friend and bassist Mike which we called Ruin Sable. Then Mike and I got together with my brother Dennis who played drums and we formed a power trio called Rooster Flatts. We didn't have a singer so that's when I started singing seriously. My thought was that as I sang I would get better. Well today I'm a little bit better, but I don't consider myself to be an excellent singer. Are you married? I
am married to a smart and loving wife. Her name is Grace.
We
have two beautiful and What future projects are you working on? By God's grace I'm working on a vocal CD right now with some other unique projects that I'm excited about in the future. Why do you like doing instrumental recordings? I enjoy doing instrumental CD's because I like to let the music speak for itself. I also find that some of my music is better off without the interruption of singing. I think that music is it's own language. It speaks volumes and helps us tear down boundaries that we surround ourselves with. Music is an expression of the soul with all it's passion, pain, joy, hope and love. I might be doing some singing on some future projects, but time will tell.
